Diploma thesis "Talk show Uvolněte se, prosím and its political guests (qualitative and quantitative analysis of politicians' attendance in the show)" deals with the topic of convergence of entertainment and politics, hence politics and the media as such. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the wider context of the issue - presentation of the politicians on television, interconnection of politics and humor, and the role of talk shows in political communication. The theoretical part presents the issue of political celebrities as one of the factors that affect communication between the politicians and the citizens. The practical part deals with the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the political guests' performance in the czech version of American talk shows Uvolněte se, prosím.

Interview On the Topic of Science by Marek Eben and His TV Show Na plovárně

Marek Eben is a phenomenon in the role of TV show Na plovarne presenter, which we have observed for nearly 20 years in Ceska televize's broadcast. The talk show, atypical by its form, is unique not only in terms of choice of guests, but especially by Eben's interview style. How does he present a specific group of guests who come from academic environment? And how many scientists have already visited popular "Plovarna"? The following bachelor paper answers these questions and other issues. The theoretical part is opened by explication of interview as a journalistic genre and puts stress on the area of terminology, typology and authorization. Concurrently, the author pursues the utilization of interview in different kinds of television programs and with some overlap into next chapter, containing the Na plovarne show's characteristic and Marek Eben's profile, he points out controversial aspects of designation "talk show". The practical part of the paper is based on quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis of selected show's episodes. Analysis of politician's attendance in Otázky Václava Moravce between 2016 and 2018

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the spectrum of participants in the Questions of Václav Moravec talk show between the years 2016 and 2018. It investigates its political balance, changes over the monitoring period and the impact the 2017 election had on it. Theoretical part deals with qualitative indicators of bias and circumstances that might affect it. It discusses the alternatives to public media and obligations the Czech Television must meet in its shows as defined by law. Content analysis has been chosen as the research method. In the analytical part of the thesis, participants are coded based on their sex, age, political affiliation and function. Obtained results about the spectrum of participants are then confronted with the CT Code to either confirm or refute its compliance.

Selected Late Night Shows as a Source of Information and their Convergence with Journalistic practice

This master's thesis focuses on the relationship between late night shows, a specific type of talk show popular mainly in the United States of America, and journalism. It primarily aims to reveal the details behind the convergence of these shows and journalism, find out how this convergence manifests and how significant it is. The thesis describes the history and the present of these shows, including their function as an important information source for the American public. The thesis then clarifies the influence of satire and infotainment in the American media landscape and defines some of the most important journalistic methods and genres. It deals with the concepts of investigative, explainer and constructive journalism. The thesis then examines, using both qualitative and quantitative analysis, three late night shows: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In these three case studies, methods and genres used by these shows are examined, and it is shown how they deliver information to the viewer and what kind of information it is. Political Talk Show as a construction of "regime of truth" in authoritative society

In this diploma thesis I study the meaning-making discourse practices of the media in the post- modern time. Current social transformations, influenced by the questioning of the categorical certainty of the modern way capturing the world, inevitably raise questions about the effect of emerging forms of reality's representation on the formation of mediated public space. Whereas, the critical perspective, developed in the context of scientific research, considers the enhancement of the entertainment component in communication space as a failure of media institutions to fulfill the ideal of the public sphere, the second stream of thinking evaluates current transformations quite optimistically, because it regards television formats overflowing with emotional expressions as an emancipatory space that is open to marginal voices in society. Exactly the media genre of talk shows, as a very controversial format, necessarily attracts much attention in the outlined debate. However, it is developed primarily by liberal democratic societies, while the focus of the research is the analysis of the talk show from a Russian society based on authoritarian tradition. Talk show as a TV genre entertaining both the USA and the Czech Republic

The topic of this Bachelor's thesis, Talk show as a TV genre entertaining the USA and the Czech Republic, is talk show as a genre connected with the origin and development of american TV entertainment, that, after the Velvet Revolution, got into our own televisions, as well. The thesis is divided into two sections - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical section, the thesis deals with the definiton and interpretation of the talk show concept, then it deals with talk show as both a TV genre and a format, circumscribes the key identification characteristics of this genre and categorises it to three main subgenres - late-night talk show, daytime talk show and informational talk show. Other fields of interest of this thesis are also genres that preceded the talk show genre or its elements. Theoretical section is then concluded by the history of talk show in the United States, the country of origin of this genre, along with its footprint in the Czech media landscape. Practical section then aims for recognition of any correspondences and differences in schemes of late-night talk show between the Czech Republic and the USA, using comparative analysis. Representing the Czech talk show in the analysis is Show Jana Krause, representing the American talk show is then The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Irony in TV talk show

This work deals with irony in popular television genre, entertaining talk show. The first partdefines the basic concepts which we work with (public communication, cooperative principle, politeness, irony). In the second part there is characterized the media dialogue, specifically talk show. The third part deals with particular public television's talk show - Všechnopárty. This thesis examines, on selected examples, how irony works in the show, how it manifests itself and how it is used by participants in talk show. The main finding is that irony in Všechnopárty is used as a communication game, mostly as a specific variant of irony called teasing (banter). It is a communication acting describable as pretended threatening of face of communication partner or of your own face, resp. communication which intentionally and transparently for the viewer violates Leech's courtesy maxima (most often tactfulness and modesty maxima).Teasing irony in Všechnopárty is used as a fun element increasing attractiveness of the show for spectators and participants of the talk show are usually knowingly involved in it. Cooperative principles v talkschow všechnoparty

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze communication within the TV talk show "Všechnopárty" from two main points of view: firstly in a light of keeping the Principles of Cooperation and Politeness within dialogues between the moderator of this show and his guests, and secondly with regard to transformation of common communication caused by the fact that the conversations are made public by TV. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first one explains terms such a Communication, Semiotics, Pragmatics, Grice's Conversational Maxims or Leech's Politeness Principles, and so provides a theoretical background of the problematic. The second chapter describes methods that were used to analyze chosen episodes of the talk show "Všechnopárty". There are two methods used in this thesis: a pragmatics analysis for the description of appearance of the Grice's and Leech's Maxims and a semiotics analysis for the interpretation of the effect of presentation of the dialogues by TV. The third chapter then applies these theoretical findings to five chosen episodes of the talk show. Comparing misanhropist talk show Jana Krause and philantrhropist talk show Marek Eben's Na plovárně

The theoretical section of the thesis Comparison of the misanthropic Show Jana Krause and the philanthropic Mark Eben's show Na plovárně aims to characterize the talk show genre both abroad and in the Czech Republic. It briefly outlines the development of the genre and its arrival in the Czech television stations. It also gives a definition of a presenter, describes the ways of communication, construction of the interviews with the guests, their selection, introduces Jan Kraus and Marek Eben and characterises both talk shows - Na Plovárně and Show Jana Krause. The practical section deals with an analysis of production in which interviews with representatives of both production teams are analysed. A qualitative analysis aims to answer the question: "How do the philanthropic and misanthropic concepts of the talk show differ, from the perspective of content and production intentions?" The conclusion contains a summary of the collected data.
